While we await the advancements of Starlink as our go-to internet solution on the road… we currently use LTE data services from the three major carriers to make sure we have redundancy. You never know how an area performs until you get there. From tower congestion to unknown towers or lack thereof… when the internet is critical for work this is how we do it.

Antennas > WeBoost

It took us some time to figure this out.

While WeBoost is a great solution (although expensive), it does help with cell phone signals when close to the internal antenna paddle. But, what we have found is that it often over amplifies a signal and degrades the overall speed of an LTE hotspot. For that reason, we prefer to utilize antennas in most situations.

For our internet use, we use LTE hotspots that include the Verizon MiFi, and the AT&T Nighthawk M1. T-Mobile is currently on a cell phone plan from a cheap phone we bought off FB Marketplace and doesn’t really apply to the rest of this article. In all these cases, we have personal unlimited data plans with each network.

The key with both of these devices (MiFi & M1), is that they have external antenna port connections. With these, you can mount and connect an external antenna to boost its signal strength and speeds.

A good quality, exterior directional antenna. I mounted this on a pole that’s attached to my ladder in the featured photo of this post. Related items and required adapters are outlined below.
